iPhones might be harder for police to unlock, thanks to new reboot feature

Apple’s new iPhone update is locking law enforcement out of phones

In the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system, a new code introduced could make it even more difficult for thieves and police to unlock iPhones.

Last week, 404 Media reported that on Thursday,  “phones being stored for forensic examination seemed to be rebooting themselves.” Law enforcement warned each other. Once the phone is rebooted, then it’s harder for those phones to be unlocked.

Apple made your iPhone more secure, but no one really noticed until law enforcement locked devices, which they had previously or were trying to crack.

In iOS 18.1, Apple rolled out a new feature that automatically reboots an iPhone if it has not been unlocked for a certain time.

So now it will be difficult for police to unlock an iPhone and get the data from the iPhone.
