Introduction:
Will AI replace our jobs? This is a very general question in this age of technological advancements. Therefore, I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts about whether it is true that our jobs will be replaced by AI and automation in the future. While many people think of the future as a time filled with technological progress, some have concerns about the potential downsides, like AI taking over human jobs. A study by Oxford University suggests that up to 45% of jobs could disappear in the next decade, which means that AI will replace 45% of jobs. This change will greatly influence how you prepare for the future of work, especially in a world that is rapidly evolving with AI advancements. In this article, we will delve into different professions and industries that are expected to undergo major disruptions due to AI in the next ten years and beyond.
Is it possible that AI will take over your job?
In this era of technology, most job holders are afraid of AI and consider AI to be far better than they are, and it will replace their jobs. This is a logically correct point.
The truth is, AI will not take over your job. The person who uses AI will replace your job. As artificial intelligence is programmed by humans, a person is required to operate it. This is also true: AI can make work easier and after because machines can not get tired or hungry, but there will be a person who is operating them. So, a person who uses AI will take over your job. I hope you get it!
If you happen to be employed in any of these high-risk sectors, it could be prudent to explore your career options and upskilling opportunities. Just a gentle nudge. By now, you may have seen reports about jobs being automated by AI-driven bots or performed with the help of machine learning and AI tools. There is a continuing debate on whether this will make human workers obsolete and how it will reshape the future job market. However, it’s important to recognise that businesses and employers have already begun integrating AI technology to support and, in certain instances, even replace human labour. So, a time will come when AI takes over jobs, but the key lies in adapting to the AI revolution.
Jobs replaced by AI in the future:
1-Cashiers

In the US, approximately eight million cashiers and sales associates are working in stores. These employees may face the risk of job loss sooner than anticipated. While self-checkout stations still have staff present, it is evident that a complete takeover by machines If you have been observing the actions of major retailers, the connections become clear. A significant instance is Amazon’s purchase of Whole Foods for nearly fourteen billion dollars. Another initiative being explored is the Amazon Go concept, a store where customers can enter, grab items and leave without any human interaction. Purchases are automatically charged to a credit card and with advancements in sensor technology, it seems that machines will soon surpass human capabilities in this aspect. In that way, AI may replace cashier jobs.
2-Travel Agents

When was the last time you visited a travel agency to secure a flight? Platforms like Skyscanner have revolutionised the ticketing sector. Booking.com has made its mark on hotel reservations, and Airbnb is shaking up the entire hospitality industry. There’s really no necessity for an intermediary to arrange our flights or accommodations anymore. We can handle it on our own. Alternatively, you could simply ask Siri to take care of the booking for you. It means AI is taking over the charge of human jobs. It may definitely replace these jobs in the future.
3-Manufacturing Workers

During the time of the Revolution, farmers started taking on jobs. They began creating machines to make life easier. As technology progressed, these individuals were also responsible for inventing devices that could eventually replace work. An interesting comparison can be drawn between how cars were made at Volkswagen factories less than a century ago and how they are made today. Back then, a team of workers worked together to put the product together, while now the process heavily relies on automation. One quote that stuck with me is This future factory will have just one person and a dog. The person’s job will be to feed the dog while the dog makes sure the person doesn’t mess with the machines. Therefore, AI can also take charge of these jobs in the future as AI will replace some human jobs in the future
4-Dispatchers

You might recall the times when someone had to manually connect calls for communication. Surprisingly, there are still many individuals working as dispatchers today. Dispatchers play a role in coordinating field operators to ensure everything runs smoothly. Whether it’s a firefighter dispatcher working with planes, police or ambulances, technology is already surpassing their performance. And we were now finalising the implementation of this technology. Remember, just five years ago when you had to call and request a taxi? Nowadays, it’s as simple as using an algorithm for an Uber or Lyft. This technology is making its way. Into dispatching and could soon replace your job. Therefore, AI can also take charge of these jobs in the future, as AI will replace some human jobs in the future
5. Bank Tellers

I’m sorry to say this, but the bank lady has always been super nice to me. However, we’re not there for chit-chat. Honestly, we hardly ever visit the bank anymore. Only when absolutely necessary. Most of the time, we just check our balance on our smartphones. Even the people we pay have their money deposited into their accounts automatically. No need for us to fill out forms manually. If we want cash, we use an ATM. You can easily open a bank account online at most banks worldwide. Only if you need services might you have to meet in person. And even then, a video call could suffice. Therefore, AI can also take charge of these jobs in the future, as AI will replace some human jobs in the future
6. Fast food workers

Do you remember when there were demands for a wage of $15 an hour at McDonald’s? That was when the push for automation started to gain traction. Those protesting against pay for work might be the ones affected if such a wage increase goes through. Fast food jobs are some of the easiest to automate, and honestly, this change was bound to happen eventually. Companies just didn’t see the need to disrupt a system that was running smoothly. However, with all the protests happening now, the government might actually give in, and that’s when automation really starts to take over. Therefore, AI can also take charge of these jobs in the future, as AI will replace some human jobs in the future
