Waymo raises $5.6B from Alphabet, a16z, Silver Lake, and more

Waymo has completed a $5.6 billion Series C funding round led by parent company Alphabet and joined by a who’s who of Silicon Valley venture firms.

Alphabet previously stated in July that it was pledging an additional $5 billion to Waymo but declined to provide specifics, stating only that it was a “multi-year” commitment. Andreessen Horowitz, Silver Lake, Fidelity, Tiger Global, Perry Creek, and T. Rowe Price all contributed to the round. Waymo declined to disclose how much each invested.

This is Waymo’s second fundraising round and first $2.25 Series B in 2020, which expands to $3.2 billion. Funds will be used to expand into cities and for business applications, and its autonomous capabilities further develop.
